A Water Jelly photographed near Ketchikan,
Alaska. Also called
Many-ribbed jellyfish
and water jellyfish.This jellyfish feeds
on other jellies and on occasion will
cannibalize
it's own species.
Water Jellys display an easily observed luminescence at night as
circular globes of pulsing light. As most jellyfish do sting humans, this jelly
is unique
as its tentacles are too small to affect us.
